There are many types of barcode scanners, and the following are commonly used:
Handheld Barcode Scanner
Handheld barcode scanners are products that were introduced in 1987 and are shaped like barcode scanners used by supermarket cashiers. Most of the handheld barcode scanners use CIS technology, optical resolution is 200dpi, there are many types of black and white, gray, multicolor, in which the color type is generally 18-bit multicolor. There are also some top grade products using CCD as a light-sensing device, which can achieve true color, scanning better.
Small Roller Barcode Scanner
This is an intermediate product for handheld barcode scanners and flatform barcode scanners (which have emerged in recent years,it is called the notebook barcode scanners because of the built-in power supply and small size). Most of these products use CIS technology. The resolution is 300dpi, there are two kinds of color and gray, color model is generally 24-bit color. There are also a few small roller-type barcode scanners using CCD technology, scanning effect is significantly better than CIS technology products, but due to structural limitations, the volume is generally significantly larger than the CIS technology products. The small drum type design fixes the lens of the barcode scanner, and the object to be scanned is scanned through the lens and operates like a printer. The object to be scanned must pass through the machine and be sent out. Therefore, the scanned object cannot be too thick. The biggest advantage of this type of barcode scanner is that its volume is small, but there are various limitations when it comes to using it. For example, it is only possible to scan thin paper and the range cannot exceed the size of the barcode scanner.
Platform Barcode Scanner
Also known as flatbed barcode scanners, desktop barcode scanners, most barcode scanners currently on the market are platform barcode scanners and are the mainstream now. The optical resolution of this type of barcode scanner is between 300 dpi and 8000 dpi, and the number of color bits is from 24 bits to 48 bits. The scan size is usually A4 or A3. The advantage of the tablet type is that, like using a copying machine, as long as the top cover of the barcode scanner is opened, books, newspapers, magazines, and photo negatives can be put on and scanned, which is very convenient, and the scanning effect is also the best in all common types of barcode scanners.
There are large format barcode scanners for large-format scanning, pen type barcode scanners, and film barcode scanners (note that it is not only flatbed barcode scanners and over-scanners, which are much more effective and the prices are also higher). Physical barcode scanners (not flatbed barcode scanners with physical scanning capabilities, somewhat similar to digital cameras), and drum barcode scanners that are primarily used in the printing and typographic fields of the industry.Frequently Asked Questions -
