The printer head of a barcode printer is the most vulnerable device in the printer. It is a lossy product like a car, and it will eventually be damaged. How to clean the printer head?

Correct method of operation

1. To make the best use, clean the printhead every time you use a roll of ribbon or a roll of thermal paper. Note that when cleaning the printer head, remove the ring to prevent scratching the printhead and use a grounded metal strap or antistatic mat to prevent static damage to the printhead.
2. Turn off the barcode printer and turn on the printer head, brush the mechanical part of the barcode printer by a small amount of cotton, or gently blow off the dust. Do not use any hard metal or abrasive tools (such as screwdrivers) to tamper with the printer head contaminants. Use an alcohol-based cotton swab to press it on the printer head from the head, then rotate the roller and use it to turn and rub. Do not use the cotton swab again when it becomes dirty.
3. Scratch-- The long-term movement of the label/ribbon through the printhead can wear the protective layer of the ceramic coating, exposing the printhead needle and eventually damaging it.

Avoid scratches

1. Clean the printhead frequently and use a high-quality smooth, back-coated film thermal transfer ribbon to reduce friction.
2. Minimize printer head pressure and print temperature.
3. Ensure that the ribbon width is wider than the label to prevent the exposed printer head from being scratched by the label. Dirty caused by the back layer of the ribbon-- High temperature, high pressure, high speed and other high setting values are required when the printer head is contaminated by the thermal printing ribbon. The accumulation of contaminants on the print head needle creates a heat transfer barrier that affects the quality of the printed image. The increase in contamination gradually reduces the print quality and looks dull or damages the print pins. Contaminants are difficult to clean for using wet cotton swabs.

Avoid the dirt caused by the back layer of the ribbon

1. It is necessary to use a thermal transfer ribbon that has been back-protected. This ribbon needs to refer to a non-adhesive ribbon, and it has static electricity and lubrication.
2. Always maintain the printer head.
