Common barcode printer faults are:
I. Hardware Connection Error
Please check whether the data cable and power cable at both ends of the barcode printer and the computer are connected, and whether the power switch is turned on.
II. The Barcode Printer is in an Error State
Please do the corresponding troubleshooting according to the error.
1. After the label is modified, it always can't be saved. Pressing Save will bring up a warning dialog box. After pressing OK, the software will be closed.
Reason: Caused by an incorrect operation that was modified directly on the label when the user modified it.
Solution: Modify it according to the correct modification method. Double-click the content you want to modify, and modify it on the dialog box written in the original layout. It is not allowed to modify directly on the label. After this modification, it will return to normal.
2. The barcode printer is not feeding properly. It only feeds half a sheet and prints a red light after printing.
Reason: The printer parameter settings are incorrect.
Solution: Take the Z4M machine as an example. Click Start menu > Settings > Printers > Select Z4M Machine > Right click > Properties > Printing Preferences > Document > Option > Dispense Mode > Select Tear Off to be OK.
3. When the barcode printer is printing, all the indicators flash and the paper cannot be measured.
Reason: Sensor fault.
Solution: Clean the sensor surface or replace the sensor.
4. The barcode printer can’t be located when printing small labels and the printed content is always biased upward or downward.
Reason: The label is too small and it is difficult for the sensor to sense the paper.
Solution: In general, the height of the label should be at least 10 or more to locate, otherwise the label should be offset. When setting the label, set the height value of the label to be about 5 mm larger than the label actual value, and then set the offset of the label according to the specific offset.
5. The font is not clear when printed, the barcode is not clear
Reason: The barcode content is too much and the density is too small.
Solution: Shorten the bar code content or increase the bar code density. For 200dpi and 300dpi machines, the bar code density is generally above 7mils, that is, the scale factor is 2 or more, and the printed bar code is clear.
6. When printing labels, some words are always can’t printed.
Reason: The printer head is dirty and the layout is incorrect.
Solution: Clean the print head; to see if the words to be printed are overlapped during the typesetting, if so, to reformat.
7. The barcode printer always shows no paper or ribbon when printing.
Reason: The paper has run out or the ribbon is wrong; the error operation command was sent.
Solution: Check if the paper or ribbon is correct; adjust the parameters of the machine, and then print after using the printing software to correctly format the settings.
8. Printing is not clear when printing, and the ribbon is broken.
Reason: The barcode printer ribbon shaft is faulty.
Solution: The belt tension of the machine ribbon is too tight, and to adjust the tension of the barcode printer ribbon shaft.
9. The newly created file can be printed normally, but the old file cannot be opened and cannot be printed.
Reason: Network printing, permission is incorrect.
Solution: When printing, see if the file has been opened on the network. If it is opened, it must be closed before it can be opened on another computer. Then detect the network permissions issue.
10. The content is not complete when printed.
Reason: The printing software and driver version are too low.
Solution: Install a new version of the software and driver.
11. The software cannot be typeset.
Reason: The software is not installed or has a computer problem.
Solution: Reinstall the software, if it still doesn't work, it may be a virus in the computer, please kill the virus. No more, please reinstall the operating system.
12. Shortly after the printer is turned on, the three lights go out and cannot print.
Reason: The barcode printer capacitor is broken.
Solution: Replace the capacitor.
13. During printing, the printed content is not the same size as the actual content.
Reason: The print driver is incorrect.
Solution: Choose the correct barcode printer driver.
14. Black lines appear during the print process.
Reason: The printer head is not adjusted.
Solution: Adjust the screws on the front of the printer head.
15. The printer rewinder does not turn.
Reason: The setting is incorrect.
Solution: Adjust the various settings of the printer rewinder, if the printer rewinder still can’t turn, it may be a problem with the motherboard. Need to be repair.
16. Paper skipping often occurs when printing.
Reason: The print settings are incorrect.
Solution: When the paper size and spacing settings are correct, change the BMP print format to PCX format for printing.
17. During the paper feeding process, abnormal noise is emitted.
Reason: The machine memory is not cleared or the machine gear is broken.
Solution: Clear the machine memory or replace the gears.
